Ukraine has submitted a request to purchase Patriot missiles using funds from an EU loan
Ukraine has officially submitted a request to the European Commission to purchase interceptor missiles for its Patriot air defense systems. Kyiv is requesting that more than 2 billion euros be allocated for the purchase of these missiles from the 90 billion euro EU loan.
Earlier, the European Commission received a list from the Ukrainian side detailing the weapons for which it plans to allocate most of the remaining 6 billion euros in the loan’s defense component.
Most of these items are equipment and drones manufactured in Ukraine and EU countries. The request for missiles for the Patriot systems is one of the key elements for strengthening air defense and protecting critical infrastructure.

The European Union has not made any new decisions regarding the transfer of interceptor missiles for the Patriot systems to Ukraine. This was stated by the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, following an informal meeting of EU defense ministers in Ireland.
As a reminder, European countries have stepped up their search for interceptor missiles for Patriot systems, which they plan to transfer to Ukraine. Kyiv is seeking to strengthen its missile defense ahead of a possible new wave of Russian attacks this winter.
