Ukraine is boosting its drone capabilities to strike targets in Crimea

Ukraine continues to expand the technological capabilities of its drones to strike military targets of Russian forces, particularly on the temporarily occupied Crimean Peninsula. The Ministry of Defense states that the development of these technologies is ongoing and will only intensify.

Ukraine is systematically expanding the capabilities of its drone technology and preparing for new operations against military targets of the Russian army, particularly in the temporarily occupied Crimea, which, according to Ukrainian assessments, is being used as a key military and logistical base. Mykhailo Fedorov, Minister of Digital Transformation and Defense Innovation, made this statement during a joint briefing with Swedish Defense Minister Paul Jonsson, emphasizing that the country’s technological development is already yielding tangible results on the battlefield.

According to him, Ukraine is not only utilizing its existing capabilities but is also actively working to expand them in order to increase the effectiveness of strike operations and scale them up in the future. “Our country’s level of technological development has made it possible for us to carry out such operations today, and we are working to ensure that this technological capability grows with each passing day,” Fedorov noted.

He emphasized that Crimea remains an important target, as Russian troops use it to support their operations in southern and eastern Ukraine, turning the peninsula into a major military hub. Separately, the minister stressed that Ukraine has a long-term plan for developing its technological capabilities and is not limited to a single area, but is working to expand its capabilities across various types of operations.

Fedorov also announced upcoming international meetings, including talks with the U.S., which are scheduled to take place during the summit in Ankara, where further steps for cooperation will be discussed. “As for negotiations with the American side, there will be a summit in Ankara… I think he will provide an update on this following the summit,” he added.

Officials in Kyiv emphasize that the technological component of the war continues to grow, and unmanned systems are becoming one of the key tools in modern warfare. Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov made this statement during a joint press briefing with Swedish Defense Minister Paul Jonsson.

Ukraine is working on concluding direct contracts for the procurement of PAC-3 anti-ballistic missiles for the Patriot systems. Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov announced this during a joint press conference with Swedish Defense Minister Paul Jonsson in Kyiv.
