Ukraine and Germany have signed agreements on defense cooperation and economic recovery

Ukraine and Germany have signed two cooperation agreements as part of intergovernmental consultations. The signing took place in the presence of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.

One of the documents concerns cooperation between the defense ministries of both countries.

The document was signed by German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius and Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov.

The parties also signed a declaration of intent to support Ukraine’s industrial recovery and strengthen its resilience. The agreement provides for cooperation between the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and the Ukrainian Ministry of Economy, Environment, and Agriculture.

On the Ukrainian side, the document was signed by Minister Oleksiy Sobolev, and on the German side, by Minister of Economic Cooperation and Development Reim Alabali Radovan.

The signed agreements aim to strengthen the defense partnership and support Ukraine’s economic recovery.

As a reminder, Ukraine and Germany are preparing joint defense projects, including innovative technologies related to laser weapons. Discussions are set to take place during the next meeting of the “Ramstein” format, where the parties plan to agree on new areas of cooperation in the field of air defense and drone technologies.

The next Ramstein Format meeting will take place on April 15 and will be dedicated to strengthening defense support for Ukraine. Kyiv is preparing new proposals for its allies, particularly regarding air defense and unmanned systems.
