Ukraine and Serbia may establish a free trade area by the end of the year
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine and Serbia intend to accelerate negotiations on a free trade zone. He would like the parties to have everything in place for the conclusion of the relevant agreement by the end of 2026.
According to Zelenskyy, negotiations between the two countries are already moving forward. Now, the Ukrainian and Serbian teams need to work more actively so that the agreement can be finalized as soon as possible. “These negotiations are moving forward, which is positive. And it would be good to have everything ready by the end of this year for the conclusion of the Free Trade Agreement,” said the President of Ukraine.
The goal is to establish a free trade zone between Ukraine and Serbia. Such an agreement should simplify trade between the two countries and create better conditions for their companies to enter each other’s markets. Zelenskyy emphasized that to achieve this goal, the Ukrainian and Serbian sides need to work hard and accelerate the negotiation process.
The President of Ukraine announced this proposal during his visit to Belgrade, where he met with Aleksandar Vučić. Among the topics discussed by the two presidents were, in particular, bilateral relations and economic cooperation.
