In May 2026, Ukraine exported 94,000 MWh of electricity, which is 2.8 times more than in April.
The largest increase was recorded in exports to Romania—volumes rose more than fivefold, reaching 16,200 MWh.
Hungary remains the largest importer of Ukrainian electricity, accounting for 64% of total exports in May.
In total, Ukraine has exported 157,500 MWh of electricity since the beginning of 2026. However, no exports took place in January and February due to a power shortage in the domestic market.
Electricity imports in May fell by 29% compared to April—to 398,000 MWh. The decline occurred across nearly all supply routes, with the exception of Slovakia.
At the same time, on an annual basis, electricity imports increased by 3% compared to May 2025.
Hungary also accounted for the largest share of imports—52% of the total volume of supplies.
