Ukrainian businessman Dmytro Karchuk was detained at the border in Poland
Dmytro Karchuk, co-owner and CEO of the CEO Club Ukraine business community, was detained in Poland after crossing the Ukrainian-Polish border. He is currently in custody, and a Polish court has ordered him to remain in custody for up to 60 days as a preventive measure.
According to his colleagues, the arrest was made on the basis of an international arrest warrant issued at the request of German law enforcement agencies. According to his defense team, the case file alleges suspicion of bicycle theft, which was allegedly committed while he was driving a truck in Germany.
Karchuk’s representatives state that he denies any involvement in the alleged offense and asserts that he was not in Germany during the specified period. The defense also reports that it is preparing documents which, in its opinion, confirm the detainee’s alibi.
According to the entrepreneur’s colleagues, Polish attorneys have already been brought in to handle the case; they are reviewing the procedural documents and preparing evidence for further consideration. They also note that they are investigating the possibility that Dmytro Karchuk’s personal data may have been misused by third parties.
The Polish court is not currently considering the merits of the case but is carrying out proceedings related to the execution of an international arrest warrant. Further procedural decisions will be made in accordance with Polish law and international procedures for cooperation between law enforcement agencies.
