In the Lviv region, a passenger car collided with a bus; 11 people were injured
A traffic accident involving a passenger car and a public bus occurred in the Lviv region. Eleven people were injured as a result of the collision.
According to preliminary reports, a Skoda Octavia driven by a 37-year-old foreign national veered into oncoming traffic and collided with the bus.
The accident occurred around 7:30 p.m. on Friday, July 31, on the “Drohobych–Dovholuka” highway between the town of Stebnyk and the village of Dobrogostiv in the Drohobych district.
According to preliminary information from law enforcement, the Skoda Octavia, driven by a 37-year-old foreign national, veered into oncoming traffic and collided with an I-VAN bus operated by a 46-year-old resident of the Drohobych district. There were 14 passengers on the bus.
As a result of the accident, the Skoda driver and two of his female passengers, aged 12 and 15, as well as the bus driver and seven of his female passengers, sustained injuries. All of the female bus passengers are residents of the district, ranging in age from 22 to 59.
Investigators have opened a criminal case regarding the accident under Part 1 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (violation of traffic safety rules or transport operation rules by persons driving vehicles). The penalty under this article provides for a fine, arrest for up to six months, or restricted freedom for up to three years, with the loss of the right to drive vehicles for the same period.
A pretrial investigation is currently underway. Law enforcement officials are determining all the circumstances of the accident.
