Ukrainians can receive compensation for jobs lost due to the war
Ukrainian citizens who have lost their jobs and income as a result of Russian aggression now have the opportunity to submit a claim to the International Register of Damages for Ukraine, established under the auspices of the Council of Europe.
The new category, “Loss of Paid Employment,” is intended for employees who worked under verbal or written contracts, as well as self-employed individuals without sole proprietor status. The application specifies the amount of lost income, including wages, bonuses, benefits, and other compensation payments.
Applications are submitted electronically through the “Diya” portal. The registry collects applications and supporting evidence for subsequent submission to the International Compensation Commission, which will directly decide on the amount of compensation and the disbursement of payments. For individual entrepreneurs who have lost business income, a separate category, “Loss of Private Entrepreneurship,” has been established.

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has officially expanded the list of categories under which citizens, entrepreneurs, and government institutions can register damages caused by the Russian Federation’s full-scale invasion.
Previously, the International Register of Damages for Ukraine expanded the options for filing compensation claims. From now on, the state can document the costs it has incurred as a result of Russian aggression.
