Ukrainians are suing Ubiquiti over the occupying forces' use of its equipment
Ukrainian civilians and relatives of the deceased have filed a lawsuit in U.S. federal court against the American technology company Ubiquiti. The plaintiffs allege that the company’s products are being used by Russian military forces on the front lines, and that Ubiquiti itself was repeatedly warned that its equipment was falling into the hands of the occupying forces.
The lawsuit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.
The plaintiffs allege that the Russian military uses Ubiquiti radio links and airMAX technology to maintain communications between various units.
In particular, the equipment is allegedly being used by drone operators, reconnaissance units, command centers, and strike groups.
According to the plaintiffs, Ubiquiti’s technology enables real-time video transmission from drones and the coordination of strikes.
According to the plaintiffs, the Russian military uses this communications system within a roughly 100-kilometer “kill zone,” which Russian drone operators have turned into a “human safari.”
The plaintiffs specifically emphasize that Ubiquiti received warnings about the smuggling of its equipment into Russia and the Russian military’s use of its products in Ukraine.
Russian and international media have also reported on the Russian military’s use of the company’s equipment.
According to the plaintiffs, such reports first appeared as early as January 2026. They also claim that Ubiquiti has the technical capability to track its terminals.
Separately, the plaintiffs cite Russian propaganda footage in which the occupying forces ostentatiously demonstrated the use of Ubiquiti products on the front lines.
At present, these claims constitute the plaintiffs’ position in the court case. A U.S. court is expected to render a final ruling on the parties’ claims.
