Ukrainians will receive up to 19,400 UAH for heating

Ukraine has begun accepting applications for financial assistance to heat private homes. The maximum payment per household this year is 19,400 hryvnias.

The government will support those who heat their homes exclusively with solid fuel. Families whose homes are not connected to centralized heating or gas networks will receive the funds.

The Pension Fund explained that the assistance is provided in the form of housing subsidies and benefits. Certain categories of citizens have priority access to funding.

The list of eligible recipients includes:

  • combat veterans;
  • people with disabilities;
  • Chernobyl accident liquidators;
  • large families;
  • single retirees.

To receive the funds, you must confirm that you actually use firewood or coal for heating.

Residents of areas near the front lines may receive increased payments. Thanks to international programs, the amount of assistance there rises to 19,400 hryvnias.

Local military administrations independently determine the lists of recipients. They also compile a list of territories where this expanded support is available. The funds are allocated to help people prepare for the cold weather in advance.

The subsidy is calculated based on 2 metric tons of fuel per year per family. Currently, the maximum price is 4,602.57 hryvnias per metric ton. Thus, the base cost of fuel for the season is approximately 9,205 hryvnias. The subsidy covers the difference between this amount and the family’s required payment.

Different rules apply to those eligible for benefits. The allowance is 1 metric ton per year. The amount of assistance depends on the citizen’s status. For example, combat veterans receive a 75% discount.

You can apply for these payments through the local offices of the Pension Fund. You’ll need to prepare a set of documents and submit them on time.

You will need:

  • an application for assistance;
  • an income declaration;
  • documents confirming your eligible status;
  • bank account details (IBAN);
  • a housing conditions assessment report (in certain cases).

The deadline for submitting applications is August 17, 2026. The decision to disburse funds will be made after all information has been verified. The funds will be deposited into the recipients’ bank accounts.

As a reminder, Kyiv is introducing a new assistance program for residents whose homes have been destroyed or seriously damaged as a result of Russian attacks. People are promised a one-time payment of 40,000 hryvnias for rent and subsequent monthly compensation if the restoration of their homes is delayed.

In addition, 147,000 families are already receiving increased child benefits.
