Military personnel will be able to assemble drones themselves for combat missions

A new feature has been launched on the DOT-Chain Defence weapons marketplace—a drone configurator that allows military personnel to independently select the specifications of their drones at the ordering stage.

The Ministry of Defense reported that the first combat unit has already taken advantage of this new opportunity and ordered an attack drone with its own configuration.

The new service makes it possible to tailor drones to specific combat missions and operating conditions in a particular sector of the front. When placing an order, military personnel can select the frame, motor, propellers, camera, battery, control system, antenna, trigger board, and other components.

The Ministry of Defense notes that this will reduce the workload on field workshops, accelerate the implementation of new solutions, and allow units to receive drones that are already ready for combat missions without additional modifications.

According to Arsen Zhumadilov, director of the Defense Procurement Agency, the feature was created in response to requests from the military, who are often forced to modify drones on their own to account for the terrain, Russian electronic warfare (EW) activities, and other conditions on the front lines.

Once an order is confirmed, the manufacturer assembles the drone in the selected configuration and ships it directly to the combat unit. The Defense Procurement Agency handles logistics and payment upon delivery.
