A fire tornado was spotted in the Chernobyl exclusion zone

A fire tornado formed in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone during a major fire. The State Emergency Service released footage of this rare natural phenomenon and reported that rescue workers are continuing to contain the spread of the fire.

A fire tornado was recorded in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone during a large-scale fire. The State Emergency Service reported this and published a video from the scene. The State Emergency Service explained that a fire whirl occurs when strong winds, hot air, dust, and flames combine into a single powerful vortex. This phenomenon is dangerous because it can rapidly change the direction of the fire and complicate the work of rescue workers. “Fire tornado: wind, dust, and flames merge into a single devastating force! This is exactly what the fire looks like that rescuers in the Kyiv region are constantly battling in the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone,” the State Emergency Service reported.

According to rescue workers, the situation remains difficult. Due to gusts of wind, the fire is constantly changing direction, forcing them to work under extremely dangerous conditions. “Where the elements change direction every moment and test people’s resilience, emergency responders do not back down. Day after day, they bravely hold back the fire to prevent it from spreading further,” the agency emphasized.

Currently, rescue workers continue to extinguish the fire and monitor the situation in the exclusion zone. No reports of casualties have been received. The State Emergency Service also has not reported any threat of the fire spreading beyond the boundaries of the Chernobyl exclusion zone.

Experts note that fire whirls occur during large fires when high temperatures, strong winds, and unstable air currents combine. Although the phenomenon looks spectacular, it is one of the most dangerous factors for firefighters, as it can drastically accelerate the spread of flames and make their behavior unpredictable. This was reported by the State Emergency Service of Ukraine.

In the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, efforts are underway to extinguish forest fires that broke out after debris from Russian drones fell. In some areas, the fire has not yet been completely extinguished, and difficult weather conditions are complicating the work of rescue workers. The situation is being monitored around the clock using drones and video surveillance systems.
