Ukrzaliznytsia Begins Collecting Personal Data When Tickets Are Purchased

“Ukrzaliznytsia” has updated its Privacy Policy and rules for processing passengers’ personal data. The documents explain what information the carrier collects, for what purposes it uses it, and what measures it takes to protect the data.

Ukrzaliznytsia has updated its Privacy Policy and Notice on the Processing of Personal Data for users of electronic services and passengers.

The carrier collects basic contact information, details for purchasing tickets, documents proving eligibility for discounts, and identification data from electronic services (Diya, BankID).

The information is processed for the purposes of providing transportation services, processing payments, handling claims, and ensuring security.

All data is stored on servers in data centers located within Ukraine. Transferring data to third parties without consent is prohibited, except to government agencies for the purpose of verifying eligibility for discounts or as required by law.

The amount of information processed by the company depends on the service selected. When using the mobile app and websites, basic contact and account information is collected.

Ukrzaliznytsia reports this on its website.

As a reminder, Ukrzaliznytsia passengers can now order Ukrainian books when purchasing tickets for select international and domestic trips. The purchased book will be waiting for the passenger in the train car at the start of the trip.

Ukrzaliznytsia has stopped paying mobilized employees their average monthly salary. Instead, the company has introduced a one-time financial assistance payment following mobilization and upon veterans’ return to work.
