The government has changed the validity periods for driver's licenses and the procedure for medical examinations

The Cabinet of Ministers has approved amendments to the rules governing the issuance of driver’s licenses and the authorization of citizens to operate vehicles in order to bring the legislation into line with European standards. This was announced by Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko. From now on, the validity period of the license will depend on the category: 15 years for motorcycles and passenger cars, and 5 years for freight and passenger vehicles.

Following the reinstatement of mandatory medical examinations, passenger car drivers will undergo the procedure once every 15 years when renewing their license, while truck and bus drivers will do so every 5 years.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs emphasized that previously issued licenses remain valid until their expiration dates, and the scheduled renewal will not require retaking exams. The resolution will take effect on the day of its official publication.

This was announced by Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko.
