Ukrainian Railways (UZ) reminded the public that posting photos taken on a train or at a station can result in an 8-year prison sentence
“Ukrzaliznytsia” has issued a reminder regarding the rules for being present at and filming on railway facilities during martial law, emphasizing the requirement for prior approval of any photo or video material.
Rail transport is classified as critical infrastructure; therefore, details captured in footage—including the condition of depots, stations, and signaling systems, as well as the results of shelling—could be used by the enemy to assess damage and conduct reconnaissance.
If instances of unauthorized filming are detected, violators will be handed over to law enforcement for legal review. In addition, the dissemination of materials documenting the movement of military personnel, weapons, or military equipment via rail carries criminal liability in the form of imprisonment for up to eight years.

Dozens of Ukrzaliznytsia trains have been running with significant delays due to the aftermath of Russian attacks, and some trains are more than 15 hours late. The company is working to restore service and asks passengers to check the current status of their trains before traveling.
“Ukrzaliznytsia” has temporarily waived fees for all paid waiting rooms at train stations across the country. Passengers will be able to stay there free of charge until Friday morning while railway workers work to restore schedules following the massive airstrike.
