The education crisis in occupied Crimea is worsening due to mass layoffs of teachers

The temporarily occupied peninsula is facing a systemic crisis in the education sector, caused by low salaries and excessive workloads for teachers.

This is reported by the Center for Countering Disinformation. The most critical situation is currently observed in Sevastopol, where the total shortage of specialists has already exceeded 100 vacancies.

The most acute shortage of personnel is observed among teachers of mathematics, physics, elementary grades, and vocational education. The occupation administration acknowledges its helplessness, as the average workload per teacher is 1.6 full-time positions, leading to extreme burnout. Despite this, salaries remain critically low, making the profession unattractive even to young professionals.

The Center for Countering Disinformation notes that Russia has focused on the war and is not attempting to ensure the basic functioning of the social sector in the occupied territories. Instead of the promised prosperity, the occupation has brought the region only decline and the degradation of key sectors. The situation in Crimea is unfolding against the backdrop of a systemic recession in the Russian economy and successful operations by the Armed Forces of Ukraine using ground-based robotic systems.

After three years of unexpected economic growth, Russia is facing a sudden slowdown—war costs, inflation, and falling oil prices have begun to weigh on an economy that until recently seemed resilient to sanctions.

Consumer lending in Russia has fallen to a six-year low.
