In occupied Sevastopol, public events are being canceled en masse due to the fuel crisis

In occupied Sevastopol, public and mass events are being canceled en masse due to a severe gasoline shortage and regular drone and missile attacks.

In particular, the occupiers urgently canceled the celebration at Malakhov Hill, which was scheduled to take place on June 14 in honor of Sevastopol Day (the city’s 243rd anniversary). The press service of the Sevastopol Defense Museum stated that the decision was made to “ensure safety,” as it is impossible to guarantee security amid aerial threats.

In addition, due to the threats and the logistical crisis, other events have been canceled:

  • Sports competitions: The local rhythmic gymnastics federation canceled the city competition “Sevastopol Waltz” and the “Legend of Kherson” Open Cup. The organizers acknowledged that the current security situation does not allow for the safe conduct of events even with shelters available, and that fuel shortages make it impossible to transport teams and ensure the normal operation of emergency services.
  • Festivals: The organizers of the “Gathering of Kindred Hearts,” scheduled for June 19–23, also announced its cancellation due to the general tension in the city.

The organizers openly acknowledged that due to the fuel shortage, it is impossible to transport teams to the competition and ensure the operation of emergency services.

The fuel crisis on the peninsula has worsened following a series of successful strikes by the Ukrainian army on the invaders’ oil depots and logistics hubs. Currently, the occupying authorities are unable to stabilize gasoline supplies for civilian needs and the work of rescue workers.

This was reported by Ostorozhno News.

In the temporarily occupied Crimea, fuel problems could escalate into a much more serious crisis. Due to logistical difficulties on the peninsula, prices have already begun to rise, lines are forming, and residents are actively stocking up on essential goods.

The shortage of automotive fuel, which was previously observed in the temporarily occupied Crimea, has begun to spread to the southern regions of the Russian Federation. Residents of the Krasnodar Krai and the Rostov Oblast are reporting shortages of gasoline and diesel fuel.
