Seven fires are being extinguished in ecosystems across Ukraine, three of them in the Chernobyl zone
Seven wildfires are currently being fought in Ukraine. The fires were reported in the Kyiv, Lviv, and Cherkasy regions, with three of them breaking out in the Exclusion Zone. The most critical situation currently remains in the Chernobyl Forest, where firefighters have been battling the blaze since August 9.
“The fire has engulfed nearly 15 hectares of forest litter and peat bogs,” the State Emergency Service reported.
In the Kyiv region, within the exclusion zone, three fires covering a total area of 3.5 hectares have been contained.
In Lviv Oblast, firefighters continue to battle three separate peat bog fires covering a total area of 10.65 hectares.
In the Cherkasy region, efforts are underway to extinguish a peat fire covering an area of 0.7 hectares.
Nearly 80 firefighters and 14 pieces of State Emergency Service equipment are involved in the response.
In total, over the past 24 hours, 293 fires broke out in ecosystems across Ukraine, covering an area of more than 180 hectares.
