Frosts will become more frequent in Ukraine: Forecasters have issued a warning for early October

On October 1, Ukraine will continue to experience pleasant weather during the day, but temperatures will drop significantly at night. Meteorologists warn that there will be more dangerous frosts in the coming days.

Meteorologist and weather forecaster Natalka Didenko wrote on her Facebook page that October will begin with weather “virtually identical” to that at the end of September.

She explained that the current weather pattern is being driven by a northern high-pressure system.

“It’s bringing sunny weather practically everywhere in Ukraine,” the expert clarified.

She reported that on Thursday, October 1, dry weather will prevail in most regions.

Light rain may occur in some areas only:

  • in the Azov region;
  • in Crimea.

Didenko noted that winds on the first day of October are expected to be dangerous in some areas. Therefore, it is important to exercise caution.

Specifically, gusts of northeasterly wind will reach storm-force levels—up to 15–20 meters per second:

  • in the southern part of Ukraine;
  • in the eastern regions;
  • in the Dnipropetrovsk region.

Daytime temperatures across Ukraine on Thursday will range from about +17 to +22 °C.

In Kyiv, according to Didenko, “October’s debut” will take place under comfortable weather conditions:

  • dry;
  • sunny;
  • moderately warm.

Air temperatures throughout the day on October 1 will range from +16 to +18 °C.

“The high-pressure system will do little to disperse the smoky air, and harmful particles will mix with natural fog. Therefore, people with bronchopulmonary conditions should be especially mindful of their health,” the meteorologist advised.

According to Didenko, this dry and relatively warm weather will continue through the end of the week.

Based on the forecast from the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center for the next three days, the weather conditions in Ukraine will not change significantly during the day on October 2 and 3.

Mostly dry weather is expected.

Temperatures are expected to range from about +14 to +21 °C.

However, nighttime temperatures in early October will drop noticeably—to an average of about +1...+8 °C.

According to the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, ground frost (0...-3 °C) is expected:

  • October 1—in the western and northern regions, as well as in Vinnytsia, Cherkasy, and Poltava regions;
  • October 2 and 3 — in most regions of Ukraine.

It is worth noting that, according to a warning from the Lviv Regional Center for Hydrometeorology, hazardous weather conditions are expected in the region until Sunday, October 4.

These include frosts at night and in the morning (in some places) both on the ground and in the air.

Meanwhile, the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Center for Hydrometeorology has warned residents and visitors to the region about an extreme weather event.

On the night of and morning of October 1, as well as on September 30, the city of Ivano-Frankivsk and the region will experience severe frosts in the air (0...-5 °C).

“Level 2 danger, orange,” emphasized forecasters at the regional center for hydrometeorology.
