As a result of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, 349 artists have been killed. The deaths of 137 Ukrainian and foreign journalists have also been confirmed.
This was reported by the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine.
The ministry emphasizes that these figures not only reflect the scale of the losses but also serve as a reminder of tragic chapters in Ukrainian history: just as the Stalinist regime destroyed a generation of Ukrainian artists in the 1920s and early 1930s, so too is the Russian Federation now systematically destroying Ukraine’s cultural elite.
