Video: Fedorov and Rutte Agreed on Priorities Ahead of the Ramstein Summit
Ukraine and NATO agreed on key defense priorities ahead of the next meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group. During the coordination, the parties focused on strengthening air defense, supplying ammunition, and expanding the production of Ukrainian drones.
“We synchronized priorities ahead of the next meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group. Our task is to ensure that every decision made by our partners best meets the real needs of the front lines and strengthens the Defense Forces. A particular focus is on air defense and anti-ballistic protection,” Fedorov noted.
According to the Ukrainian official, the key goal of the negotiations is to ensure that future decisions by allies align as closely as possible with the real needs of Ukrainian troops on the front lines.
Fedorov noted that Ukraine continues to seize the initiative in all domains of war.
“At the same time, ballistics remains the main challenge for defending Ukrainian airspace. Russia is unable to achieve its objectives on the battlefield, so it continues to attack Ukrainian cities, critical infrastructure, and civilians,” Fedorov emphasized.
Fedorov also noted on Telegram that among the key priorities for cooperation are: partner contributions to the PURL program; the supply of PAC-3 missiles through the JUMPSTART mechanism to strengthen anti-ballistic capabilities; long-range munitions under the Czech Initiative; and funding for the production of Ukrainian drones.
The next meeting of the Contact Group in the “Ramstein” format is scheduled for June. In addition, Ukraine plans to hold a closed-door meeting of deputy ministers to discuss the PURL mechanism. This will be the thirty-fifth meeting of the Contact Group on Ukraine’s Defense in the “Ramstein” format.
