On September 30, a major traffic accident involving a truck and four passenger cars occurred in Tyachiv, Zakarpattia Oblast, resulting in one fatality and two injuries.

According to preliminary reports, the 48-year-old truck driver failed to maintain a safe speed and following distance and collided with a VAZ passenger car. As a result of the impact, three other vehicles—a Volkswagen, a Honda, and a Ford—which were stuck in traffic in front of a checkpoint, were also damaged due to momentum. As a result of the accident, the 55-year-old driver of the “VAZ” died at the scene from his injuries, and two passengers in the Honda, aged 67 and 54, were injured.

Law enforcement officials are currently investigating all the circumstances of the fatal accident and are working to apprehend the truck driver.

As a reminder, in Lutsk, a man stole a Chery Tiggo, but he didn’t get very far in the stolen vehicle—he crashed into a fence on a nearby street. After the accident, the suspect abandoned the car and fled, but police apprehended him shortly thereafter.

Earlier, law enforcement officers in the Ternopil region detained a 42-year-old resident of the village of Horodnytsia, who had stolen two cars within 24 hours and caused an accident. The man was intoxicated.
