Ukraine has no intention of withdrawing from Donbas or giving up its people — Zelenskyy
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine has no intention of giving up the Donbas or abandoning its citizens in the temporarily occupied territories.
At the same time, once the war ends, the state is counting on strong security guarantees from the United States to prevent any new Russian aggression.
According to the president, Ukraine is not considering a scenario in which it would simply abandon Donbas or give up on its people. He emphasized that any future decisions must ensure the security of the state and the Ukrainian people.
Zelenskyy also stated that Kyiv is working with Washington on new security agreements. He said that once the war ends, Ukraine will have strong security guarantees from the U.S. in the event of renewed Russian aggression.
At the same time, the president noted that a ceasefire is now objectively necessary for both sides, since no one can accurately predict exactly how the war will end.
Separately, the head of state emphasized that Russia will continue to try to destabilize the situation within Ukraine. According to him, the Kremlin’s main strategy is to exploit internal divisions within Ukrainian society, so the country must maintain unity, mutual respect, and resilience.
