The renovation of the Darnytsia Thermal Power Plant is being funded by a private company — Kyiv City State Administration
Repairs to damaged equipment at the Darnytsia Thermal Power Plant in Kyiv are being carried out without using funds from the city budget. According to the Kyiv City State Administration, the work is being financed by Euro-Reconstruction LLC. Thus, the facility is being restored using funds from a private company, not the city.
This was reported by the Kyiv City State Administration.
"Projects to restore damaged or destroyed equipment at the Darnytsia Thermal Power Plant are being carried out by Euro-Reconstruction LLC using the company’s own funds and available resources. This work is being carried out without using funds from the city budget, though in close and constructive coordination with the city, as it is an important part of Kyiv’s energy resilience plan and preparations for winter,” said Petro Panteleev, Acting First Deputy Head of the Kyiv City State Administration.
According to him, the implementation of Kyiv’s energy resilience plan is ongoing across all key areas—restoration, distributed cogeneration, expansion of backup power sources, and more.
He added that city authorities will provide updates on the current status of the plan’s implementation and winter preparation measures that have already been completed or initiated, taking safety regulations into account.
The Kyiv City State Administrationhas shifted responsibility for uncleared roads in Kyiv to the prosecutor’s office.
On February 26, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed with Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko the preparation of a strategy for energy sector recovery and enhanced protection of the power grid for the upcoming winter season.
Local authorities in Ukraine were required to submit detailed energy development plans for the coming winter by March 1, 2026.
