A former prisoner of war was beaten at the TCC in Odessa; the center has responded

The Odessa Regional TCC and the Joint Staff are investigating reports of possible misconduct involving former prisoner of war Dmytro Kashchuk.

This was reported on the regional TCC’s Facebook page.

“Dmytro Kashchuk’s statement regarding alleged unlawful actions was received by the Odesa Regional TCC and SP on April 23, 2026. As part of the investigation, the identities of individuals and vehicles are being established. Since, according to the complainant’s description, the participants in the incident were wearing balaclavas and had no identifying marks, the question of their affiliation with TCC and SP units is the subject of an internal investigation,” the statement reads.

The TCC added that they are cooperating with law enforcement agencies to objectively establish all the circumstances of the incident.

Earlier, media reports emerged about the beating of a soldier who had been held captive by the Russians. Dmytro Kashchuk himself recounted that on April 21 in Odesa, a minibus with people in uniform pulled up next to him, after which he was shoved inside.

According to him, he was struck several times in the face, driven around the city, and later pushed out of the vehicle. He also claims that when he tried to show his disability documents on his phone, he was not listened to.

Dmytro Kashchuk voluntarily went to the front in 2023 and fought in the Donetsk region, where he was taken prisoner. He was released in May 2025. After his captivity, he was granted a Group III disability.

As a reminder, on the evening of April 30, a 68-year-old resident of Bila Tserkva threw an RGD-5 combat grenade over the fence of the district territorial recruitment center, where it detonated. No one was injured in the explosion, and no damage to the building or property was reported.

In Kharkiv, an explosion occurred near a supermarket, after which law enforcement officers detained a 32-year-old man suspected of detonating the grenade.

Serhiy Tkachenko, an inspector with the Tactical and Operational Response Company, detained a man who threatened to use a grenade in Dnipro.
