A military psychologist explained why the problems with mobilization are being exaggerated
On September 12, a military psychologist stated that the public perception of mobilization issues does not fully reflect the actual state of affairs. According to him, the Ukrainian military continues to be reinforced, training centers are operational, and the system is gradually changing.
Social and military psychologist Oleg Pokalchuk expressed this view in an interview with Ukrinform.
He said that the enemy has “200%” exploited the mobilization issues and, in essence, used them to form an anti-state movement rooted in instincts.
Pokalchuk noted that at present, it is more important not to discuss the topic of mobilization but to find other mechanisms, since human behavior is always governed by two factors—the expectation of reward and the fear of punishment.
“When this mobilization system was created, neither of these factors was present—and, consequently, the system fell apart,” said the social psychologist.
At the same time, Pokalchuk emphasized that public perception of mobilization issues does not reflect the actual state of the process.
“You see, we assess and comment on mobilization issues as if it were a complete failure, but that’s absolutely not true! It’s happening—training centers are operating, and the ‘18–24’ contracts are in effect. But when isolated incidents occur, we blow them out of proportion,” he stated.
According to the psychologist, Russian propaganda quickly picks up on such isolated cases, after which they create the impression that “everything is lost.”
“No, the process is ongoing. It will never run exactly as we’d like, but this system is changing,” Pokalchuk emphasized.
He added that mobilization had once become a political issue, but now, in his opinion, it has returned to the administrative and organizational realm.
Earlier, the “Reserve+” app introduced the option for teachers to apply for a deferment from mobilization.
Authorization and the main functions of the “Reserve+” app are once again operating normally. The service was restored on the evening of September 1.
Reserve+ had previously received an update, and the Ministry of Defense had warned of glitches.
Prior to that, the “Reserve+” app experienced a major outage, and data was not being updated.
Prior to that, on the evening of August 22, the “Army+” app and some “Reserve+” services were temporarily unavailable due to technical work on the “Trembita” system. The work will take place from 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., and the Ministry of Defense warned that restoring all services may take longer.
