Faculty members at Sheptytsky College have reported pressure and physical abuse by the administration

The scandal surrounding the Sheptytsky Professional College of Energy and Technology is escalating. During a meeting of the Lviv Regional Council’s Education Committee, about ten faculty members from the college reported pressure, non-payment of vacation pay, and instances of physical violence by the interim administration.

In particular, one of the employees accused Deputy Director Ihor Pavlovsky of attempting to physically assault her. A criminal investigation has been opened into this incident and has already been referred to the prosecutor’s office.

The conflict erupted after Chief Accountant Olga Zapisotska was appointed acting director; she has been linked to financial irregularities and internal audit findings (in particular, regarding the payment of abnormally high salaries to herself totaling over 170,000 hryvnias).

After her appointment, Zapisotska went on sick leave, transferring her powers to Pavlovsky; however, according to the staff, she continues to come to the college and issue orders. The Lviv Regional State Administration’s Department of Education is currently seeking legal mechanisms to urgently appoint a new head of the institution in order to stabilize its operations and avoid disrupting the admissions campaign. Olga Zapisotska herself rejects all accusations made by the faculty and denies any instances of pressure or violence.
