Starting September 1, student scholarships will be increased in Ukraine
Starting September 1, Ukraine plans to increase the amount of state scholarships for students at institutions of higher education, pre-higher vocational education, and vocational education. This was announced by the Verkhovna Rada.
According to the published information, the minimum academic scholarship for students at higher education institutions will increase to 4,000 UAH, while the enhanced academic scholarship will amount to 5,820 UAH.
Sector-specific scholarships will also increase, with the enhanced amount reaching 7,420 UAH. The presidential scholarship for top students will rise to 20,000 UAH.
Payments for students at vocational pre-higher education institutions will also be increased. The minimum academic scholarship at colleges will be 3,020 UAH, and the enhanced scholarship will be 4,394 UAH.
In addition, the government will continue to support young people from temporarily occupied and frontline territories. For these applicants, simplified admission requirements through educational centers remain in place—without taking the National Multisubject Test (NMT), based on the results of an interview or entrance exams.
They are also eligible for a separate quota for state-funded spots, assistance with obtaining Ukrainian documents, psychological support, discounted housing in dormitories, and a one-time grant of 50,000 UAH provided by international partners — the UN and UNICEF.
In addition, a state scholarship program is available for applicants who achieved high scores on the NMT. Applicants who scored at least 150 points across two subjects are eligible for a grant of 17,000 UAH or more, while those who scored 170 points or more across two subjects are eligible for a grant of 25,000 UAH or more.
The grants are intended to partially offset the cost of tuition for students enrolled on a contract basis. For applicants to higher education institutions in frontline regions, the amount of such a grant is automatically increased by 50%.
