Karchuk, the director of CEO Club Ukraine who was detained in Poland, informed the Ukrainian consul of his next steps
The Ukrainian consul visited Dmytro Karchuk, director of the CEO Club Ukraine business community, in Poland; Karchuk had been detained in Przemyśl at the request of German law enforcement authorities. Karchuk Denies the Charges
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, during the meeting, Dmytro Karchuk did not complain about his conditions of detention or the treatment he has received from prison authorities. At the same time, the detainee stated that he does not admit guilt and does not agree with the charges that formed the basis for his detention.
Karchuk also informed the Ukrainian consul that he plans to appeal the decision of the German investigation. He intends to pursue this matter together with his attorneys. Thus, Karchuk’s current position is that he does not admit to any involvement in the alleged offense. The final facts of the case are to be determined by law enforcement and judicial authorities.
Ukraine is monitoring the observance of his rights
After speaking with the detainee, the Ukrainian consul met separately with the prison administration. During this meeting, they discussed the observance of the Ukrainian citizen’s rights. Specifically, this concerns compliance with Polish law and international standards regarding the treatment of detainees.
The Ukrainian side continues to monitor the situation and maintain consular contact with Karchuk. In addition, the Ukrainian Embassy in Germany has sent a request to the German side for details of the case. Ukrainian diplomats are seeking more information about the reasons for the detention and the nature of the allegations made by German law enforcement authorities.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also stated its readiness to assist Karchuk’s attorneys in matters related to the protection of his rights. Karchuk currently remains in custody in Poland. His position on the case remains unchanged—he denies any involvement in the offense and plans to defend his interests through legal channels.
