GUR Director Ivashchenko Comments on the SBU's Shooting at His Troops
Lieutenant General Oleg Ivashchenko, head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, stated that he is assisting in the investigation of the shooting incident between members of the Security Service of Ukraine and military intelligence in the capital. The head of the Main Intelligence Directorate called the incident unacceptable and emphasized that responsibility must be individual, noting that there is neither institutional immunity nor collective guilt.
Ivashchenko rejected claims of an alleged “war between intelligence agencies,” stressing that the Main Intelligence Directorate and the Security Service of Ukraine are working against a common enemy in the interests of national security. According to him, an isolated incident cannot serve as grounds for questioning the effectiveness of state institutions as a whole, and the operational freedom of the security services always operates within the bounds of state control.

As a reminder, Zelenskyy will dismiss the deputy heads of the SBU and the GUR.
Prior to this, representatives of the SBU and the Main Intelligence Directorate were served with notices of suspicion in connection with a shooting in Kyiv.
Earlier, information about a possible shooting in Kyiv had circulated on social media. According to eyewitness reports, law enforcement officials were spotted at the scene.
