Construction of Ukraine's first fully inclusive ice arena is nearing completion in Lviv
In the Sykhiv district of Lviv, construction of the modern “Hakivka” ice arena will be completed by the end of September; it will be the first facility of its kind in Ukraine to be fully accessible to people with disabilities and wheelchair users. The official opening of the sports facility is scheduled for early October 2026.
The arena measures 61 by 48 meters and is equipped with a three-layer dome that maintains a year-round temperature of approximately +12 °C. According to Lviv Mayor Andriy Sadovyi, “there are currently no similar domes at ice arenas in Ukraine.” Utility lines have already been installed at the site, electrical power has been connected, and spectator stands as well as modular facilities with locker rooms and restrooms have been set up.
The arena will help promote para-hockey in the city, provide a training venue for hockey players, figure skaters, and schoolchildren, and will open to the public for recreational skating starting in November. The facility’s name derives from a distinctly Ukrainian term for hockey, proposed in the first half of the 20th century by educator Ivan Bobersky.

Lviv has officially approved new rules for the use of electric scooters and other light electric vehicles. From now on, riders must wear helmets, and rental scooters must be parked only in designated areas. The city is also introducing new age restrictions, traffic rules, and experimental road signs.
Gas networks in Lviv were damaged as a result of a Russian missile attack. As a result, 120 consumers were temporarily left without gas service.
