A former SBU investigator was sentenced to 9 years in prison for accepting a bribe of $80,000
The Supreme Court has definitively upheld the sentence against former SBU investigator Serhiy Glivinsky, who was found guilty of receiving $80,000 in illicit benefits.
The court rejected the defense’s appeal and upheld the decisions of the lower courts. Glivinsky was sentenced to nine years in prison.
The court also barred him from holding positions in the SBU and other law enforcement agencies for three years. In addition, all property owned by the convicted man will be confiscated.
According to the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, Glivinsky, who worked as an investigator in the Odesa branch of the SBU, demanded and received $80,000 from a citizen. In exchange for this money, he was to carry out procedural and investigative actions in favor of the foreign national.
Specifically, this involved easing the preventive measure, as well as lifting the seizure of property and bank accounts.
The Supreme Court’s ruling is final and cannot be appealed.

The European Union has expanded its sanctions list against Russia, adding more than 80 individuals and entities. Among them is Metropolitan Tikhon (Georgy Shevkunov) of Simferopol and Crimea, whom the media refer to as Putin’s “spiritual advisor.”
Prior to this, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed a decree imposing new sanctions against citizens and organizations linked to Russian propaganda and the persecution of Ukrainians. The restrictions apply to 29 individuals and 17 legal entities.
