Zelenskyy Announced New Measures Concerning the Military

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that new decisions regarding the Ukrainian army will be developed in the near future. According to him, this was preceded by consultations with military leadership and other officials.

The head of state also emphasized that he is attuned to public sentiment and takes into account what Ukrainians are saying. He has not yet disclosed any details of the upcoming decisions.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that over the past two days he has held a series of consultations regarding the situation in the military. He mentioned this in his evening video address. According to the head of state, he met and spoke, in particular, with former Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, as well as with Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi.

The president noted that he is closely monitoring public sentiment. “Of course, I hear what people are saying,” Zelenskyy emphasized.

At the same time, he announced that, based on the results of the consultations, new decisions concerning the Ukrainian army are being prepared. The president did not specify exactly what these decisions would be. “Decisions regarding the army will be worked out. I thank everyone who cares about Ukraine. I thank everyone who is defending our positions on the front lines, who is striving to bring the war back home—to Russia, to where the war came from,” said the head of state.

The president’s statement came amid active discussion of the military leadership’s performance and debates regarding possible changes to the Armed Forces’ command structure. At the same time, Zelenskyy did not specify when exactly the announced decisions might be adopted or what exactly they would entail. The head of state addressed this in his evening address.

A group of members of parliament is initiating a request to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy calling on him to consider the dismissal of Oleksandr Syrskyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. For the document to become an official request from the Verkhovna Rada, it must be supported by at least 226 deputies.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is reportedly considering replacing Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi. This was reported by the Financial Times, citing a senior official in the Office of the President whose name has not been disclosed.
