President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the development of a new pay system for military personnel, which provides for increased pay for both infantry soldiers and combat commanders.
According to him, the minimum pay for military personnel in the rear will be 30,000 hryvnias. At the same time, the amount of pay will depend on the number and complexity of combat missions carried out.
“The more combat missions, the higher the pay,” Zelenskyy emphasized.
The president also announced the introduction of new contracts for infantrymen with significantly better financial terms. According to him, service members on the front lines will receive an average of about 300,000 hryvnias.
Separately, an increase in pay for combat commanders is planned. As the head of state noted, this should help retain experienced officers in the army and boost motivation to serve.
The new contracts will include clearly defined terms of service—10, 14, or 24 months—as well as guaranteed deferrals after their completion.
According to Zelenskyy, the Cabinet of Ministers will soon approve the mechanism for implementing these decisions, and military personnel should begin receiving the first new payments as early as June.
