Zelenskyy called the €90 billion from the EU a signal to Putin

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the release of EU financial aid, combined with new sanctions, should increase pressure on Russia.

Zelenskyy announced this.

According to him, this involves a support package worth 90 billion euros over two years, as well as new restrictions against Russia.

The president emphasized that such decisions send a signal to Moscow about the need to end the war.

He emphasized that Ukraine is fulfilling its obligations to the EU, including regarding the operation of the Druzhba oil pipeline.

Zelenskyy also expressed his expectation that aid would be launched quickly and that the European Union would take further steps to strengthen its support for Ukraine.

Separately, he noted that Kyiv continues to work on increasing sanctions pressure and integrating into the European space.

EU ambassadors approved a €90 billion loan for Ukraine and agreed on the 20th package of sanctions against Russia.

The European Commission has finalized the key elements of a €90 billion financial support package for Ukraine for 2026–2027. The first tranche is expected to be disbursed as early as the second quarter of this year.

Von der Leyen assured that Ukraine will receive the loan from the EU.
