Zelenskyy Outlined the Condition for Appointing a New Ambassador to the U.S.

Zelenskyy Outlined the Condition for Appointing a New Ambassador to the U.S.

On September 8, Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine already has candidates for the position of ambassador to the United States. Before making an appointment, the president is awaiting detailed background reports from the SBU and NABU regarding the candidates.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy made this statement during a conversation with journalists.

According to the head of state, appointing the head of the diplomatic mission in Washington is critically important in light of unblocking the negotiation process and ensuring Ukraine’s needs for Patriot air defense systems.

“It’s very important not to make a mistake here. And so there are candidates—I won’t say who they are just yet—but first and foremost, I need to receive detailed background reports, not only from the SBU but also from the NABU. I’m waiting for this additional information, and then we’ll make a decision,” the president noted.

Zelenskyy said that he had devoted the entire previous day to personnel matters. In particular, he held meetings with SBU Head Oleksandr Poklad, as well as with Oleg Ivashchenko, head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, and Kirill Budanov, head of the Presidential Office.

“After that, I met with the heads of the NABU and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAP), as well as with the Prosecutor General of Ukraine. I had a fairly long meeting with the Prosecutor General. He drafted the relevant statement, and the proposal will be sent to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine,” the head of state said.

Earlier, Zelenskyy stated that he had not spoken with Fedorov in a long time.

As a reminder, Goncharenko once again summoned former Minister Fedorov to a meeting of the Temporary Investigative Commission.

Previously, the police were instructed to bring representatives of the foundation where Fedorov is staying to the TSC meeting.

Ukraine needs to develop a mechanism for holding elections even in wartime, ensuring the right to vote for all citizens. This opinion was expressed on August 18 by former Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov.

Former Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov has agreed to consult with Italian Defense Minister Guido Crosetto remotely and on a non-staff basis. The discussions will focus on modern warfare technologies and the development of defense innovations.
