Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that his main expectation for the upcoming EU summit is the release of a €90 billion financial aid package.
He told reporters about this.
According to the president, the process has already begun, and final decisions could be made in the near future.
Another important issue is the approval of the 20th package of sanctions against Russia. Zelenskyy emphasized that it is not only the number of sanctions that matters, but also their effectiveness and the speed of implementation.
Separately, Ukraine is counting on progress in opening negotiation clusters and further deepening cooperation with the European Union.
EU ambassadors approved a €90 billion loan for Ukraine and agreed on the 20th package of sanctions against Russia.
The European Commission has finalized the key elements of a €90 billion financial support package for Ukraine for 2026–2027. The first tranche is expected to be disbursed as early as the second quarter of this year.
Von der Leyen assured that Ukraine will receive the loan from the EU.
