Zelenskyy compared Trump's greeting to the sound of a Patriot missile launch
Donald Trump congratulated Ukraine on the 35th anniversary of the restoration of its independence and expressed his hope for an end to the war and lasting peace. Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked the U.S. president, stating that his words, like the sound of a Patriot PAC-3 missile launch, boost morale and offer hope for protection against Russian attacks.
“I received warm and encouraging greetings from President Trump on the occasion of the 35th anniversary of Ukraine’s restoration of independence,” he noted.

“Dear Mr. President, On behalf of the American people, I congratulate you and the citizens of Ukraine on Independence Day. August 24 is the day we celebrate our strong friendship, built over 35 years of diplomatic relations—a bond that has only grown stronger since Ukraine gained independence.
Thanks to your courageous, brave, and talented people, you have built a great nation. As we mark this important occasion, know that the United States admires your resilience, honors your sacrifices, and remains confident in your future as a sovereign, prosperous nation.
Let us seize this moment to end the conflict and build a strong and lasting peace that will unlock Ukraine’s immense potential for future generations.

“These words, like the sound of a Patriot PAC-3 missile launch, lift our spirits and give us hope that people’s lives can be protected from brutal Russian attacks and that a just peace can be achieved. Thank you, President Trump, and to all Americans for your support and well-wishes!” replied the President of Ukraine.
Earlier, the prime ministers of the United Kingdom and Luxembourg, the president of Moldova, and the leader of Estonia arrived in Kyiv.
As a reminder, on August 24, British Prime Minister Andy Burnham arrived in Kyiv on his first foreign visit in office. London will allow the release of classified information regarding the British components of SCALP missiles.
While in Kyiv, Finnish President Alexander Stubb announced the preparation of two aid packages for Ukraine—to strengthen air defense and support the energy sector ahead of winter.
