Zelenskyy Spoke About Reinforcements in Sloviansk and Kostiantynivka

Zelenskyy Spoke About Reinforcements in Sloviansk and Kostiantynivka

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that, following a report from Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykhailo Drapaty, steps have been identified to reinforce the Sloviansk and Kostiantynivka sectors. These include additional resources and measures designed to help Ukrainian forces repel Russian assaults and prevent the occupiers from advancing. Zelenskyy also stated that he expects at least 30,000 Russian troops to be killed in August.

According to Zelenskyy, many issues related to the situation on the front lines were discussed during the meeting. Particular attention was paid to the report by Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Mykhailo Drapato. Following the report, the Ukrainian military leadership identified further steps and measures to reinforce two key sectors—Sloviansk and Kostiantynivka.

“There were many questions today, specifically from the military. Following the report by Commander-in-Chief Drapato, we determined the steps and measures to reinforce the Sloviansk and Kostiantynivka sectors,” Zelenskyy said. The president did not specify exactly what resources are planned to be deployed to these fronts or when this will take place.

Why Sloviansk and Kostiantynivka Are Important

Sloviansk and Kostiantynivka are located in the Donetsk region and remain important cities for defending Ukrainian positions in the east. Russian troops continue to attempt to advance in the Donetsk region. It is crucial for Ukrainian forces to prevent the occupiers from advancing further toward key settlements.

Kostiantynivka is also of great importance for Ukrainian defense in the region. Major transportation routes pass through the city, and its surrounding area remains one of the fronts where Russian troops are attempting to put pressure on Ukrainian positions. Sloviansk is located further north and is also of strategic importance for the defense of the Ukrainian part of the Donetsk region. Therefore, reinforcing these areas is part of a broader effort to contain the Russian offensive.

Zelenskyy thanked the military

The president specifically thanked the Ukrainian units currently serving on the front lines. He commended the troops who are eliminating Russian occupiers, repelling assaults, and preventing Russian forces from penetrating Ukrainian positions.

Zelenskyy also mentioned countering the so-called “infiltration” by Russian troops. “This refers to attempts by small groups of occupiers to secretly infiltrate Ukrainian positions or establish a foothold near them. I am grateful to all units that are eliminating the occupiers, repelling Russian assaults, and countering the enemy’s ‘infiltration,’” the president said. According to him, the Ukrainian military must continue to put pressure on Russian forces and eliminate their manpower.

The President expects heavy losses for the Russian army

Separately, Zelenskyy outlined his expectations regarding Russian military casualties in August. The president stated that he expects at least 30,000 Russian occupiers to be eliminated over the course of the month. “I expect that now, in August, there will be no fewer than 30,000 occupiers eliminated,” Zelenskyy said.

The president cited this figure specifically as the expected result of the Ukrainian military’s operations in August. At the same time, the exact number of Russian military casualties can only be assessed at the end of the month. Zelenskyy did not specify exactly how they plan to achieve this figure. However, his statement suggests that strengthening Ukrainian positions, repelling assaults, and eliminating Russian troops on the front lines will play a key role in this.

Currently, the Ukrainian military leadership continues to work on reinforcing the Sloviansk and Kostiantynivka sectors. The president stated that the necessary steps have already been determined based on the findings of Mykhailo Drapaty’s report. The president announced the results of the military report in his video address.

Serhiy “Flash” Beskrestnov, a special advisor to the president, warned of the potential danger posed by the Russian “Rassvet” satellite network, which is described as an analogue of Starlink. According to him, Ukraine needs to prepare electronic warfare capabilities in advance to counter this system.

A new variant of the Russian multi-purpose “Gerber” drone has been spotted in Ukraine. The first images of the upgraded drone have already appeared online.
