Zelenskyy Outlined Three Steps the U.S. Is Taking to Advance Peace Talks

The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump is insisting on three urgent steps as part of efforts to de-escalate Russia’s war against Ukraine and restore diplomatic ties with Moscow.

According to Zelenskyy, these steps are:

• a ceasefire regarding energy infrastructure;

• restoring the operation of the “grain corridor” in the Black Sea;

• a trilateral meeting between the U.S., Ukraine, and Russia, likely in Abu Dhabi.

The president noted that the proposal for a joint ceasefire on attacks against energy infrastructure came from the U.S., and Ukraine is ready to agree to it.

“The proposal is now on the agenda: an energy ceasefire. We are ready,” Zelenskyy said.

He also added that the U.S. is seeking to reopen the “grain corridor” and hold a trilateral meeting.

The U.S. has proposed holding a meeting of technical teams first, rather than a summit between leaders. They suggested Abu Dhabi as a possible venue.

“We are open to proposals—any country, any format,” the Ukrainian president emphasized.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke about this in an interview with Axios.

Donald Trump was asked whether he still believes that Ukraine is capable of regaining all the territories occupied by Russia. The U.S. president did not directly answer this question but stated that he expects an agreement between Kyiv and Moscow.
