Zelenskyy highlighted the significance of the Allied landings in Normandy

On the occasion of the 82nd anniversary of the Allied landings in Normandy (D-Day), Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy emphasized the importance of the joint struggle for freedom and democratic values. The head of state stressed that the unity and resolve of nations in confronting aggression remain key factors in victory, and that freedom ultimately triumphs over all forms of tyranny.

"Today marks the 82nd anniversary of D-Day—the Allied landings in Normandy, which significantly accelerated the countdown to the Nazis’ defeat in World War II. This is one of the most important moments in human history of unity among defenders of life, and less than a year remained before the peoples’ desire for freedom and hope for peace prevailed in May 1945. It happened then. "We are striving to make it happen now as well," he noted.

Zelenskyy noted that although another cynical order was issued yesterday in St. Petersburg by the army seeking to destroy Ukraine’s freedom and continue killing, history has seen this before. According to him, the Nazis also had hopes after D-Day.

"But freedom will prevail anyway. And even in the darkest circumstances, people find a way to unite to protect life. Thank you to everyone who is now helping to preserve the values that triumphed in World War II," he added.

The head of state wrote about this on Telegram.

Zelenskyy published an open letter to Putin—full text.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that Moscow is allegedly ready for negotiations to end the war against Ukraine, but sees no willingness for dialogue on the Ukrainian side.

Putin is not changing course and continues to finance the war.
