Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine is ready to make compromises with Russia regarding grain and energy
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine is ready to seek compromise solutions with Russia on issues related to grain exports and energy. At the same time, he emphasized that this requires action on the part of both countries.
“Grain and energy are sensitive issues for Ukraine and Russia. And they are sensitive issues for the whole world. For India today, for the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Asia, and many other countries. We are ready (to do so—ed.) to find a compromise here,” Zelenskyy noted.
At the same time, he stressed that both countries must take the necessary steps, not just Ukraine.
“It is very important that we are in such a situation and in such a position today, where both Ukraine and Russia need to take certain steps. We shouldn’t expect compromises only from Ukraine. Ukraine has already made so many compromises,” the President noted.
As reported by Ukrinform, Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Taras Vysotsky stated that due to logistical problems, Ukraine exported only 20% of its potential grain volume in August.
Global wheat prices have risen to nearly a three-year high due to Russian and Ukrainian attacks on Black Sea infrastructure. The current price of food wheat on the European Euronext (MATIF) as of August 20 is €226.75 per metric ton for the nearest September contract and €236.75 per metric ton for the December contract, which is equivalent to approximately $275 per metric ton.

“We’re seeing good results in shooting down cruise missiles, but it’s not easy with ballistic missiles,” Zelenskyy said.
