Zelenskyy responded sharply to Putin's statement

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reacted sharply to the latest statement by Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. According to the head of state, the Kremlin’s response has once again shown that Russia is not interested in ending the war.

Zelenskyy believes that Putin’s words have disappointed many international partners who were expecting signals of a willingness to make peace. Instead, the president emphasized, Moscow is once again demonstrating a desire to continue hostilities.

Commenting on the latest statements by the Russian leadership, the President of Ukraine stressed that Russia is once again choosing war. “Unfortunately, the Russian side is once again choosing war—everyone heard today’s response. A weak response. He simply does not want to end the war,” Zelenskyy said.

According to the president, the Kremlin’s stance has become a telling sign for the entire world. “I think this response has disappointed many around the world,” he added.

The president is convinced that the Russian leader has no intention of revising his policy and refuses to acknowledge reality. In Zelenskyy’s view, the war has long ceased to be a matter of security or policy for the Kremlin and has become a tool that benefits a narrow circle of people close to the Russian authorities. “He doesn’t want to change anything. He doesn’t want to admit that this war only benefits him and those who are profiting from it,” the president emphasized.

Zelenskyy also drew attention to the Russian leadership’s reaction following his latest statements. “They were all very smiley today,” the head of state noted.

According to the president, the world’s response to Moscow’s stance should be to increase economic and political pressure. Zelenskyy emphasized that Russia continues to receive resources to wage war, and therefore international partners must seek new mechanisms to influence the Kremlin. “This means Russia must have less money, and the pressure on Russia must increase,” he stated.

Zelenskyy’s latest remarks were a reaction to the latest signals from Moscow regarding the war against Ukraine. In Kyiv, officials believe that the Kremlin shows no willingness to genuinely cease hostilities or seek compromises. Ukrainian authorities have repeatedly stated that any peace initiatives will only make sense if Russia is ready to cease its aggression and respect international law. Currently, however, according to the Ukrainian leadership, the Kremlin’s rhetoric suggests the opposite—Russia continues to rely on war rather than diplomacy.

The Kremlin stated that it had reviewed Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s letter to Vladimir Putin, but has not yet announced an official position. At the same time, it reiterated that if interested, Zelenskyy could visit Moscow.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy published an open letter to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. The document formally proposes ending the war through direct bilateral talks between the leaders and implementing a complete ceasefire.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that Moscow is allegedly ready for negotiations to end the war against Ukraine, but sees no willingness for dialogue on the Ukrainian side.

Putin is not changing course and continues to finance the war.
