Zelenskyy met with scientists and presented them with state awards

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with Ukrainian scientists, during which he presented state awards and conferred honorary titles for their contributions to the development of science and technology.

This was reported by the Office of the President.

The head of state thanked the scientists for their work and emphasized the importance of science for the country.

“For all of us, science is about life—it’s about how to protect it, how to help, and how to turn ideas into reality. And some things that might seem completely unreal actually come to life thanks to talented, intelligent people. I want to thank you for ensuring that science in Ukraine is developing and thriving,” he said.

The President awarded the scientists the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise, 4th and 5th classes, the Order “For Merit,” 1st–3rd classes, and the Order of Princess Olga, 3rd class, and also conferred the honorary titles “Honored Doctor of Ukraine” and “Honored Worker of Education of Ukraine.”

During the meeting, they discussed the development of air defense systems, particularly anti-ballistic solutions, as well as the application of Ukrainian developments in the space sector and the integration of university projects into state programs.

Special attention was paid to defense and medical technologies. Among the presented developments were various types of unmanned aerial vehicles, ground-based robotic systems with combat modules for countering FPV drones, electronic warfare systems, as well as technologies for performing complex heart surgeries on injured patients without stopping the heart.

It was also announced that Ukraine is launching the National Researcher System, which will rank scientists across 14 fields. The top 2,650 researchers will receive a monthly stipend of 10,000 UAH for two years, starting in August. Separate support is provided for young researchers, women in science, and veteran scientists.

As a reminder, during a working trip to the Oleksandrivka area, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy visited the command post of the 31st Separate Mechanized Brigade named after General-Horunzhy Leonid Stupnytskyi.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed decrees No. 317/2026 and No. 318/2026 awarding state honors to over 1,000 Ukrainian servicemen, some of whom received the awards posthumously.
