The full text of Zelenskyy's letter to Trump and the U.S. Congress has been released

A letter from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to U.S. President Donald Trump and the U.S. Congress addresses hostile attacks, the escalation of Russian aggression, and the Kremlin’s recent gains on the battlefield. The main point is a request to provide Ukraine with missiles for its missile defense systems.

This is stated in the full text of the letter, published by Axios journalist Barak Ravid. The authenticity of the document was officially confirmed by Presidential Advisor Dmytro Lytvyn.

The head of state described in detail the consequences of the strike on Ukraine on the night of May 24, noting that Russia launched 54 cruise missiles, 30 ballistic missiles, 3 “Zircon” hypersonic missiles, 2 “Kinzhal” missiles, and about 600 attack drones. He specifically mentioned the use of two “Oreshnik” systems, one of which struck Bila Tserkva, while the other fell in the occupied Donbas. At the same time, Zelenskyy reported that Ukraine has increased its interception rate of “Shaheds” to over 90%, and this experience has already helped countries in the Middle East and the Persian Gulf that have turned to Kyiv for support.

The President warned partners of signs that Moscow is preparing to intensify its campaign of terror, as Russian officials are threatening to make such massive attacks systematic. At the same time, the current pace of deliveries through the PURL program—which is the only way to secure Patriot interceptors against ballistic missiles—is already catastrophically insufficient to counter the threats. Ukraine is calling for help to defend its skies, expressing its readiness to purchase the necessary number of Patriot systems and PAC-3 missiles, as ballistic missiles currently remain Russia’s last major advantage. Additionally, Kyiv has proposed a long-term path toward expanding joint production of Patriot systems and missiles with European allies under full U.S. control.

Yuriy Ignat, head of the Communications Department of the Ukrainian Air Force, stated that the version of the SAMP/T air defense missile system currently in Ukraine has not yet been used to intercept ballistic targets

Patriot air defense systems can shoot down submunitions from the Russian “Oreshnik” missile, stated military expert Maksym Narozhny.
