On September 17, more than 200 clashes took place on the front lines; Russian forces are applying pressure in the Pokrovsk direction — General Staff
Over the course of September 17, 207 combat engagements took place on the front lines. The highest number of Russian attacks was recorded in the Pokrovsk sector—21 assaults, some of which were still ongoing as of the evening. According to the General Staff, Ukrainian forces also destroyed and damaged enemy equipment and fortifications.
On September 17, Russian troops continued to attack the positions of the Ukrainian Defense Forces on several fronts. In total, 207 combat engagements took place since the start of the day. According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Russian army carried out one missile strike and 68 airstrikes. The enemy used 201 guided aerial bombs and 5,927 kamikaze drones in these attacks.
Russian troops also carried out 2,113 shelling attacks on Ukrainian military positions and populated areas.
Situation in the North
In the Northern Slobozhanshchyna and Kursk sectors, one assault operation by Russian troops was recorded since the start of the day. In addition, the occupiers shelled Ukrainian military positions and populated areas 33 times.
In the Southern Slobozhansky sector, the situation was more intense. The Russians attacked the positions of the Defense Forces 12 times in the areas of Buhaivka, Kozacha Lopana, Lyman, Prylipka, Ternova, Karaichne, Potykhonove, and Zakharivka. As of this evening, six of these assaults were still ongoing.
In the Kupiansk sector, Russian forces made three attempts to improve their positions. They carried out assaults in the direction of Petropavlivka and Kivsharivka.
In the Lyman sector, Ukrainian forces repelled 10 enemy attempts to advance. Fighting took place near Kopanok, Hrekivka, Shyikivka, Novoselivka, Lyman, and Dibrova. As of 10:00 p.m., three Russian attacks in this sector were still ongoing.
The highest number of attacks occurred near Pokrovsk
The Pokrovsk sector remained the most active over the past 24 hours. Here, Russian troops launched 21 attacks on the positions of Ukrainian defenders. The occupiers attempted to advance toward Hannivka, Dobropillia, Novyi Donbas, Novohryishyne, Vasylivka, Serhiivka, Molodetske, and Novopavlivka.
As of this evening, two of the enemy’s assaults were still ongoing. Ukrainian forces also inflicted casualties on Russian units. According to preliminary data from the General Staff, 46 occupiers were killed and seven more were wounded in the Pokrovsk sector over the past 24 hours.
In addition, the Defense Forces destroyed six vehicles, one artillery piece, six special-purpose vehicles, and five shelters where enemy personnel were stationed. Another artillery piece, a drone control center, and 53 shelters housing Russian personnel were damaged. Ukrainian forces also destroyed or neutralized 164 drones of various types.
Fighting in the Donetsk Region
In the Sloviansk sector, Ukrainian forces repelled four Russian attempts to advance. Fighting took place in the areas of Yampil, Kryva Luka, and Mykolaivka.
In the Kramatorsk sector, Russian forces twice stormed the positions of Ukrainian defenders near Vasyutynske.
Ukrainian forces repelled another 15 enemy attacks in the Kostiantynivka sector. The Russians attempted to advance near Kostiantynivka and toward Osykove, Dovha Balka, Pryiut, Stepy, and Vilne.
Situation in the South
In the Oleksandrivka sector, Russian forces launched an assault toward Novohorhiivka.
In the Huliaipole sector, the Defense Forces repelled five enemy attacks. The Russians attempted to advance near Vozdvizhivka, Krynychne, and Charivne.
As of the evening, two assaults were still ongoing.
In the Orikhiv sector, Russian troops made three attempts to advance. Their attacks were directed toward Chervona Krynytsia, Mali Shcherbaky, and Pavlivka.
In the Dnipro sector, Russian troops did not conduct any offensive operations during the past 24 hours.
In other sectors, according to the General Staff, no significant changes in the situation were recorded.
Throughout the day, Russian invaders attacked five districts of the Dnipropetrovsk region more than 40 times, using drones, artillery, and aerial bombs. As a result of the enemy strikes, three people were killed and five others were wounded.
On the morning of September 17, Russian troops struck the “Epicenter” shopping center in Kharkiv. As a result of the attack, the building sustained significant damage and caught fire.
The enemy attacked a passenger bus in the Kosmichnyi district of Zaporizhzhia using an FPV drone. At the time of the attack, there were people inside the bus who were on their way to run errands.
