Four Years of Full-Scale War: Russian Intelligence Launches New Nuclear Scare Tactic
Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Service of Russia has initiated another wave of disinformation, accusing Western countries of secretly transferring nuclear components to Kyiv.
Russian propagandists claim that United Kingdom and France are allegedly helping Ukraine develop a so-called “dirty bomb,” attempting to present it as a domestic Ukrainian project.
This is not the first such narrative promoted by the Kremlin, which has repeatedly used nuclear blackmail as a tool of foreign policy. Moscow has previously circulated unfounded allegations about biological weapons and supposed preparations for provocations at Ukrainian nuclear power plants.
“The transfer of nuclear weapons to Kyiv is being disguised as a Ukrainian development,” Russian media quoted their intelligence service as saying. However, as in previous cases, no evidence or substantiation was provided to support these claims.
Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy suggested that if Ukraine is not accepted into NATO, the issue of restoring its nuclear status should be reconsidered. Discussions have also emerged in the United States regarding the theoretical possibility of returning nuclear weapons to Ukraine.
