Drone attack on the Kirish Oil Refinery in Russia: key facilities and oil processing units damaged
A strike by Ukrainian drones on the Kirishskiy Oil Refinery in Russia’s Leningrad Oblast has damaged key production facilities at the plant.
This was reported on Telegram by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
According to updated information, damage has been confirmed to the ELOU-AVT-2 and ELOU-AVT-6 primary oil refining units, as well as facilities for the production of petroleum bitumen, hydrotreating units, and gas fractionation units.
The refinery’s capacity is used to produce a wide range of petroleum products, including fuel that meets the needs of the aggressor state’s armed forces.
“The Ukrainian Armed Forces continue systematic measures to reduce the military-economic potential of the Russian Federation and its ability to support the occupying forces,” the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine emphasized.
As a reminder, on the night of March 26, the Ukrainian Armed Forces struck the Kirish Refinery, after which a fire broke out on the facility’s grounds. The blaze engulfed the primary oil refining units and two storage tanks.
The Kirish Oil Refinery is one of the largest in Russia—it ranks among the top three most powerful oil refining enterprises in the aggressor country. The plant has a refining capacity of approximately 20–21 million tons of oil per year and accounts for over 6% of the Russian Federation’s total oil refining volume.
The facility also plays a key role in the export of petroleum products, supplying them via pipelines to the ports of Ust-Luga and Primorsk.
On the night of March 26, units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces struck the Kirishi Oil Refinery in the city of Kirishi, Leningrad Oblast, Russia.
Earlier, Robert "Madyar" Brovdi, commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, reported that following strikes on the "Primorsk" and "Ust-Luga" oil terminals in Russia’s Leningrad Oblast, the Kirishi Oil Refinery was also hit.
As a reminder, on the night of September 14, 2025, Ukrainian drones had already attacked the Kirishi Oil Refinery (KINEF) in Russia’s Leningrad Oblast.
