A drone attack disrupted Medvedev's inspection of a missile factory in Smolensk

On March 27, drones attacked the Smolensk region at the very moment when Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, was in the region.

The main target of the strike was the Smolensk Aviation Plant (SmAZ), where the Moscow official was inspecting the fulfillment of a state defense contract.

Local Governor Vasily Anokhin confirmed the attack, claiming that seven drones had been shot down by air defense forces and the air force.

The official, as usual, assured that “there were no casualties or damage,” but eyewitnesses and local social media accounts report a different situation.

A cluster of Emergency Ministry vehicles and ambulances was spotted near the entrance to the strategic facility.

The Smolensk Aviation Plant is part of the Tactical Missile Weapons Corporation and is one of the key facilities of the Russian military-industrial complex.

According to Ukrainian intelligence, this facility produces cruise missiles and strike UAVs that Russia uses to shell Ukraine.

Medvedev’s visit was aimed at accelerating the pace of weapons production.

As a reminder, drones attacked Europe’s largest chemical plant in Russia.

Drones also attacked the Russian ports of Ust-Luga and Primorsk again.
