Russian attacks and severe weather have left consumers without power in six regions
As a result of new Russian attacks, as of the morning of May 20, consumers in six regions of Ukraine were left without power. In addition, due to heavy rains and thunderstorms, more than 30 settlements in three regions experienced partial or complete power outages.
This was reported by NPC Ukrenergo on Facebook.
“The enemy continues to attack civilian energy infrastructure facilities. As a result of drone and artillery strikes, as of this morning, consumers in the Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhia, Donetsk, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, and Sumy regions are without power. Emergency repair work is already underway wherever security conditions currently permit,” the statement reads.
Power grids in the Poltava, Kyiv, and Chernihiv regions were also affected by the bad weather. Due to heavy rainfall and thunderstorms, more than 30 settlements were left without power. Power engineers are already repairing the damaged power lines.
At the same time, Ukrenergo reported that electricity consumption as of 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday was 1% lower than the previous day.
“Please use electricity sparingly. Do not turn on several high-power electrical appliances at the same time in the evening—from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.,” the power grid operator urged.
The Russian army launched another strike on civilian infrastructure in the Kherson region, using an unmanned aerial vehicle.
